Adults are housed in natural tree shaded runs
constructed from movable panels. The oval inset
demonstrates how the panels are joined. Vertical
bars prevent climbing and the 50 cm high bottom
section under the gate prevents dogs escaping
when you enter the run.
Our puppy play pens are constructed from four
movable panels 3m long X 60cm high. The panels
consist of vertical bars rather than mesh so that
puppies do not learn to climb.
Each of our four whelping kennels has an outside
run where puppies can play in the sandbox or on
the grass. The movable panels enable the run to
be enlarged as the puppies grow older.
The main whelping kennel is fitted with an air conditioner to allow
control of ambient temperature. An adjustable infrared heating lamp
suspended from the ceiling controls the local temperature in the box.
A radio prevents the bitch getting bored and socialises the puppies.
Soft sheep skin-like whelping blankets are used. The kennel is also
equipped with a basin and first aid cupboards for emergencies.
Bitches in season and dogs being
prepared for show are kept in this kennel
block. Dogs listen to the radio and can
see all around them.
A removable grid in the doorway not only
allows the bitch to escape the puppies
when she needs a break, but also keeps
the puppies in or outside.
